The Department of Anesthesiology, Pain and Perioperative Medicine at Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst 2 to manage and analyze large amounts of information, typically technical or scientific in nature, independently with minimal supervision. This position is part of a new data science initiative within the clinical and research arms in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. This individual will join a new team with direct access to clinical resources, clinical datasets, and data generated from cutting-edge research in translational medicine to create new analyses and visualizations as we empower true data-driven clinical care. The data types include electronic medical records, cardiac monitoring, clinical imaging from different modalities, actigraphy / wearables data, multiomics, streaming data from operating rooms/hospital care, and many more exciting data types.

Duties include:
Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, and maintain its accuracy and completeness.
Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements.
Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data.
Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others.
Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation.
Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
Test prototype software and participate in approval and release process for new software.
Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, software engineering, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, or biostatistics.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
High level of ability in SQL and interfacing with SQL through other programming languages
Experience with database provisioning, managing user access, data migrations, version control, and data quality control
Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) data
Familiarity with GCP and/or AWS cloud ecosystems
Experience using GCP BigQuery and other cloud-based database tools
Familiarity with database frameworks for working with structured and unstructured data
Interest in medicine and biology
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
Occasionally use a telephone.
Rarely writing by hand.
