Responsible for innovative optical system engineering design for our next generation metrology equipment and process control sensors.
Engage with internal and/or external customers to clarify or define the problem statement, and propose concept designs.
Conduct feasibility study by theoretical analysis and experiments for proof of concept and risks retirement.
Generate system/sub-system design specifications by analyzing market requirement, performance requirement, error budget, cost and manufacturing constraints.
Conduct system architectural design, optical ray trace design, performance analysis, and prototype assembling and validation tests.
Proactively identify risks and propose optimal solutions in product development.
Generate production software requirements for software team.
Comply with the product-life-cycle (PLC) procedures.
Create technical documents and provide customer training.
Travel to other TEL BU and/or customer sites when needed (< 20%) to support internal and field tests;
MS/Ph.D. in optical engineering or science is required for this critical position. Basic qualifications include:
10+ years hands-on experience in optical system development in semiconductor equipment industry;
Strong training and working experiences in the following area:
Optics theories and designs in optical metrology and defect inspection;
Optical system ray-trace modeling and simulations;
Image analysis, pattern recognition;
Data analysis techniques, machine learning and data mining algorithms;MATLAB, LabView, C++;
Building test bench and prototype systems to valid design concept.
Knowledge about semiconductor manufacturing processes, optical metrology, and/or digital signal processing;
Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to learn new technologies and products fast; Capable of leading R&D projects.
Works effectively in a cross-functional team environment, and has strong verbal and written English communication skills.
