The purpose of this position is to provide power supply planning and operational studies and analysis to support the reliable and economic dispatch of Cooperative Energy's generation resources.
Essential Job Functions
Develops and maintains modeling data and software packages required to accurately model generation resources and associated components for corporate modeling.
Develops long-range generation resource studies and construction work plans to meet Cooperative Energy and RUS requirements.
Develops specialized studies and analysis to determine the most economic, efficient, and effective utilization and expansion of Cooperative Energy generation resources.
Supports and evaluates potential long-term and short-term RFP processes for new generation resource additions and provides all analysis and documentation required by management and RUS.
Supports the Cooperative Energy budgeting process and all other internal functions that use production costing and modeling simulations.
Represents Cooperative Energy on MISO committees and working groups as assigned.
Supports MISO processes by providing generation data updates for market studies as required.
Develops, maintains and implements the Cooperative Energy ARR/FTR and Resource Adequacy processes.
Prepares reports to ensure that proper and complete documentation of all study analyses are maintained.
Prepares reports, presentations, and other supporting data as required by Management.
Maintains and updates Generation Dynamics models.
Facilitates and participates in Generation Testing for MOD standard compliance.
Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program

Position may be filled at entry level requiring no experience however candidates with greater experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for higher level engineering classification.
Certifications and Licensures:
PE License Preferred
Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening. Required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Strong working knowledge of detailed operation of an electric power system.
Working knowledge of production cost modeling, generation resource economics and unit commitment.
Ability to interpret involved contracts such as Power Purchase Agreements, Marketing Agreements, and Interconnection Agreements.
Strong working knowledge of mathematics and logic.
Advanced working knowledge of Engineering Economics.
Must be detail-oriented.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Must have confidence and the ability to understand complex interactions.
Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment during routine and stressful situations.
Working knowledge of data management, including database and spreadsheet applications, with the ability to use moderately complex models or specialized computer applications.
Ability to apply advanced analysis methodologies.
Ability to interpret and present findings in a clear, concise manner including the creation and use of tables, charts and graphics to summarize results.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and stay on schedule to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Ability to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
