A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Konstantin Vodopyanov at CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida. We look for a creative person with strong experimental skills to work for several advanced projects.
Position Requirements: • PhD in the fields of Optics or related fields (Electrical Engineering, Physics, etc.) • Experience with high-average power nanosecond lasers. • Knowledge of nonlinear optics, mode-locked lasers, and experience with mid-IR spectral range would be advantageous.
Our group develops groundbreaking techniques for producing coherent mid-IR radiation and explores its diverse applications. The areas of research embrace generation of ultra-broadband frequency combs in the mid-IR, performing ultrasensitive molecular detection using dual-frequency-comb spectroscopy, spectroscopic study of dynamic processes such as combustion. We also explore applications of mid-IR frequency combs in biomedicine.
The main focus of the research work to be done is to produce an innovative approach to creating high-power nanosecond source in the range between 3.3 and 4.6 µm (with average power around 5W at 5 kHz), based on nonlinear optical frequency downconversion from a well-developed near-IR nanosecond laser operating near 1.6 µm. Another avenue of research will be creating broadband frequency combs in the long-wave part of the spectrum (9–11 µm).
For interested applicants, please e-mail your application letter and CV to Konstantin Vodopyanov (email@example.com). Information about our group research can be found at: https://www.creol.ucf.edu/mir/
