The Senior Laser Design Engineer plays a crucial role at the center of our LIDAR system. The laser is the core of the LIDAR engine on our chip and is the key to the LIDAR system performing at long range with high resolution. You are bridging the gap between laser design and silicon photonics design, while working closely with manufacturing partners as well as electronics and packaging teams.
What you will be doing:
Identify solutions for integrated III-V semiconductor laser for silicon photonic lidar
Hands on laser cavity design, simulations, and testing of lasers
Hands on integrated III-V photonic design and silicon photonic design
Identify solutions for laser packaging
Working closely with external partners on design, tapeout, and packaging
What we need from you:
3 years of semiconductor laser design experience
Demonstrated knowledge of design and fabrication of III-V integrated photonics and silicon photonics
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external foundry and packaging partners
Knowledge of III-V heterostructure design
Familiarity with co-packaging of III-V materials and silicon photonics
Experience with test/characterization of single-wavelength laser systems
Proficiency in Python.
