The CORNERSTONE team provide a Silicon Photonics fabrication service to researchers from across the globe, centred around unique cleanroom capabilities in Southampton, UK (www.cornerstone.sotonfab.co.uk). You will play a fundamental role in the success of CORNERSTONE by developing new business and ensuring that opportunities to support the development of UK science are not missed.
The primary goal of this Business Development Manager post is to generate impact for both CORNERSTONE and the research we support. You will achieve this by growing existing collaborations, generating new business, hosting match-making events to bring like-minded researchers together, and leading an improved client experience. You will work closely with our partners to promote the CORNERSTONE capabilities to prospective collaborators. You will ensure Equality, Diversity & inclusion are key considerations for all outreach, training, and marketing activities. You will host training events and seminars, as well as attend conferences and exhibitions to promote the CORNERSTONE activities. You will also collaborate with both our Engagement Officer and Administrator to enhance our online presence via our website and social media.
Furthermore, you will be able to learn from some of the best researchers in the field of Silicon Photonics and will gain valuable, transferable skills, whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the Silicon Photonics ecosystem and the technology required to build Silicon Photonics systems, all whilst growing your personal network.
Experience in a business development or sales role is essential, as is a strong understanding of managing client relationships in an effective manner and a track record of doing so. Technical knowledge of integrated photonics, an understanding of the worldwide Silicon Photonics ecosystem and experience of working in industry are all desirable. Based on your skills and experience, a market supplement to the salary may be negotiable.
This post is initially funded for two years - depending on the success the role has, there is the possibility of an extension.
