We are looking for an enthusiastic computational scientist/bioinformatician dedicated to advance cancer target and therapeutic discovery by leveraging the power of computational approaches. This position is supported through the NCI ITCR program. The main responsibilities will be focused on design and implementation of novel computational approaches to uncover new tumor dependencies and clinically actionable vulnerabilities, including large-scale cancer-focused data integration, statistical analysis, visualization, and predictive modeling. JOB DESCRIPTION: Works at the edge of cancer chemical biology, data science, and bioinformatics. Helps design and implement novel cutting-edge computational tools and algorithms to inform new target and therapeutic discovery in cancer. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in computational biology, bioinformatics, cancer biology or related field. General knowledge of biology and genomics, proficiency in python and/or R coding. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with cancer gene expression analysis, pathway enrichment analysis, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), diverse data integration, statistical analysis, predicting modeling, solid knowledge and practical usage of cancer-focused and general biological, clinical, and pharmacological databases (e.g. TCGA, DepMap, cBioPortal), web development, software engineering, excellent writing and communication skills.
