The Department of Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates with a passion for teaching and program building for a full-time non-tenure-track Instructional Associate/Full Professor and Program Coordinator position in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology. Appointment begins in Fall 2023 or earlier depending on identifying a suitable candidate. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related area with industry and program building experience. Excellence in teaching Electronic Systems Engineering Technology at all levels of the curriculum, participation in grant funded developmental projects, and ability to collaborate with industry and other academic partners for program building is expected. The base teaching load for professional-track faculty is 4/4 with a one course reassignment for program coordination (effective teaching load will be 3/3/). Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Service to the department, college, university, and the community is expected.
Electronic Systems Engineering Technology: This is a new academic program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) designed to meet the industry needs of metropolitan San Antonio which has aerospace and manufacturing industries, in addition to a strong military community. The curriculum has two focus areas - control systems and communication; the successful candidate should have a specialization in one of these two areas.  Courses are designed to merge classroom and laboratory activities seamlessly  and there is an emphasis on project based learning.
University: A&M-SA is a comprehensive regional university with over 7,300 students (Fall 2022) enrolled in undergraduate programs and select graduate programs. It has transformed rapidly into a growing urban university during the past decade. Required Education and Experience:Â
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Specialization in control systems or communication.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Evidence of potential for academic program building in partnership with industry.
Excellent skills in interaction and communication with students, faculty, and staff.
Evidence of excellence in college level teaching at the university level, commensurate with the rank of Instructional Associate/Full Professor.Â
