The George Mason University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), invites applications for one or more tenured or tenure-track faculty positions beginning Fall 2023. Senior candidates with established records of outstanding research and excellent teaching will be eligible for tenured associate professor or professor positions. Responsibilities include teaching core undergraduate and graduate courses in microelectronics and semiconductor technology, developing electives in accordance with their area of expertise, advising students and mentoring senior design teams, and service duties associated with the department's degree programs.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have received a PhD in Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field by the start date of the position, and should have demonstrated potential for excellence and productivity in research and a commitment to high-quality teaching. Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have interests in outreach, curriculum development, and significant experience in an academic setting in teaching for at least six years post PhD.

Applicants in the areas of micro/nanoelectronics and semiconductor technology will be given serious consideration. Candidates must have experience in one or more of the following areas: microelectronics, nanomaterials and nanoelectronics, wide-bandgap semiconductors, sensors and sensor systems, THz electronics and photonics. We are particularly interested in candidates to teach in the areas of semiconductor physics and devices, sensors, digital and analog circuits, nanoelectronics, RF electronics, photonics and bioelectronics. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD, teaching experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Administrative and/or managerial experience is a plus. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) offers BS and MS degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as MS degrees in Digital Forensics and Telecommunications. The department is home to over 30 faculty members and close to 850 students, including about 270 graduate students. Our research portfolio is thriving, with faculty actively engaged in research in a diverse range of fields such as bioengineering, communications and networking, computer engineering, controls and robotics, cyber-physical systems, cyber security, digital forensics, nanoelectronics, power systems, signal processing, and space-based systems.

ECE supports other Mason Engineering programs through interdisciplinary collaboration in both education and research, and has close ties with the Departments of Bioengineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Projects and hands-on activities are at the core of many of our educational programs where interdisciplinary projects and courses are highly integrated into the curriculum.
