New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a lecturer position in the Department of Computer Engineering Technology to begin in spring or fall 2023. This is a full-time faculty position which leads to a certificate of continuous employment.
The Computer Engineering Technology (CET) Department offers two programs, both accredited by ETAC/ABET: Electromechanical Engineering Technology (EMT), which leads to an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and Computer Engineering Technology (CET), which leads to a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree. The CET department prepares students in the fundamentals of electricity, electronics, mechanics, and computer systems (hardware, software and networking). Integration of these technologies is the objective of our programs. The department's range of offerings encompass the application of computer control of devices making use of microprocessors, microcontrollers and embedded systems hardware and software. Present goals include course development in the areas of Networking (Virtualization, Storage, Security, Clustering, etc.), Digital Systems & Digital Signal Processing using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), Data Acquisition & Instrumentation, Software Engineering, Parallel Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Embedded Systems Computing using a variety of hardware and software development tools, processors, and operating systems.
In addition to teaching courses in the CET curriculum, the position requires a commitment to teaching excellence, sustained service to the department, college and university, and regular involvement, as assigned, in academic advisement, recruitment efforts, assessment and accreditation, and self-governance. The lecturer will function collaboratively in department-level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula and maintaining the academic vitality of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a relevant branch of engineering or engineering technology (Electrical, Computer or Software) and the ability to teach successfully.
Preferred Qualifications
Master???s degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is highly preferred.
Three (3) or more years of college-level teaching experience in one of the following areas: Networking (Virtualization, Storage, Security, Clustering, etc.); Digital Systems & Digital Signal Processing (using FPGAs); Software Engineering; Parallel Computing; Embedded Systems Computing (hardware & software development); Biomedical/Electrical /Mechanical hardware and software systems is highly desirable.
The ability to teach in a diverse, multicultural environment, ability to work collaboratively with others for the good of the institution, and experience with online instruction are preferred.
Candidates with well-developed teaching plans as applied to computer engineering technology, including hardware and software, will be given preference.
Vaccine Requirement
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
$69.665 - $88,998
