Detailed Job Description
Please note: Travel may be required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

The NTID Outreach Consortium is responsible for the establishment and operation of educational activities designed to build up NTID's pipeline of prospective deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students and to share NTID resources externally. The primary purpose of the Consortium is to offer various training and educational programs, workshops, and technical assistance to address the educational, transitional and professional development needs of secondary DHH students and their families, educators, and other professionals working with such students.

The Outreach Consortium provides approximately 15-20 programs annually serving over 1,000 prospective secondary DHH students and their families, and over 250 educators and professionals serving such.

The NTID Outreach Consortium works in partnership with multiple departments and programs within and outside of NTID including but not limited to: NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC), NTID Admissions, NTID Office of External Affairs, NTID Academic Affairs, RIT K-12 Programs, and state vocational rehabilitation agencies to achieve programming goals.

NOTE: The term program' will be used to refer to all activities including but not limited to: competitions, camps, conferences, fairs and the like.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the vision and mission for the Outreach Department, with an emphasis on the creation of a pipeline of DHH middle school and high school students to RIT/NTID. Audiences for Outreach programming would include such students and their families, educators and VR professionals.
• Report to the Assistant Dean of Outreach, Placement and Special Projects. Lead data collection design and analysis efforts for evaluation purposes and write/ provide reports, metrics, and budgeting information to the NTID Administration.
• Supervise the Associate Director for Internal Outreach and Special Projects, the Associate Director for External Outreach and Special Projects, and the Program Assistants. Provide in-depth training, mentoring, guidance, professional development and evaluation.
• Working with the Associate Directors, develop and provide oversight for annual plans, budgets and schedules for various internal and external Outreach projects including but not limited to: Camps (e.g., Explore Your Future, Health Care Careers, TechBoyz and TechGirlz, Marine Lab, WIOA-Pre ETS); annual competitions (e.g., Next Big Idea, National and Regional Math Competitions, Science Competition, Writing Competition); and programs and activities (e.g., STEM days, fairs and related activities, Career Awareness events, FutureQuest)
• Work with the Assistant Dean of Outreach, Placement and Special Projects on oversight and management of the NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) initiatives at NTID which includes but may not be limited to the following departments: Outreach, Project Fast Forward, Center on Employment, STEM Interpreting, Summer Transition Program, Vocational Rehabilitation, Sunshine 2.0, and Marketing Communications.
• Also, assist with the facilitation of the NTID Regional STEM Center site at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, and additional sites that may be implemented.
• Develop working relationships with and serve as point of contact between Outreach and institutional departments including but not limited to: RIT K-12 programs, RIT Office of Legal Affairs, RIT Global Risk Management, RIT Residence Life, NTID Admissions, NTID Office of External Affairs, NTID Academic Affairs, and other relevant units.
• Serve as point person for collaboration with state vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies and related parties in regard to WIOA pre-college programming funded by VR.
• Develop, interpret and carry out institutional and departmental policies. Ensure full compliance with state and university guidelines in working with minors.
• Negotiate high-level sponsorships and contracts for national conferences, programs and activities.
• Represent NTID, NRSC, Outreach, and Admissions at conferences and related programs for the purpose of promoting NTID and Outreach programs. As appropriate, conduct presentations on Outreach, Transition and STEM topics.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:

• Masters degree in Education, Human and Social Services, Business, Communication or related field
• 5-7 years of related experience or equivalent.

Skills:

• Demonstrated exemplary skills in the following areas: communication, interpersonal interactions, organization and multi-tasking, time management, budget management, telecommunications, and writing.
• Development of short- and long-term program plans.
• Ability to make significant independent programming judgements and decisions.
• Ability to learn state and federal laws pertaining to working with minors.
• Ability to compile, collect and analyze data for program review and reporting.
• Sensitivity to ethnic, socioeconomic and communication diversity.
• American Sign Language skills or willingness to learn to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of prospective DHH students and individuals.
