The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at Columbia Engineering invites applications for an Associate Professor of Professional Practice starting in either the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year. This position is open to candidates with professional and/or research interests in any aspect of Electrical Engineering. Candidates with interests in optics and devices are especially encouraged to apply. Associate Professors of Professional Practice are full-time non-tenure-track faculty members who have substantial professional experience.
The EE Department is looking for applicants with a recognizable reputation reflecting distinguished professional experience in operations research or related areas. Candidates for this position must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines. A successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the educational mission of the Department, which includes developing curriculum and courses relevant to practice, executive programs for practitioners, and developing industry contacts for sponsored projects and project-based courses. In addition, we expect a successful candidate to help with all aspects of the undergraduate and MS programs including admissions and student advising, helping to organize seminars and conferences, and recruiting industry affiliates. The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $132,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
