Detailed Job Description WORK SCHEDULE: This is a Part time ( 20 Hour per week position) This is a 10 month position ( August- May) Schedule is negotiable.
The Cashier/Operator receives and disburses money and ensures that all payment transactions at the location are handled promptly, using the correct payment methods. Uses electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. Major Responsibilities
Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, or vouchers.
Greet customers and assist customers by providing information.
Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
Monitor checkout stations to ensure they have adequate cash available
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner
Assist with training of student employees in many areas including cashier
Assist with inventory. May stock shelves, sort and re-shelve returned items, and mark prices on items and shelves.
Adheres to and follows precautionary measures as they relate to safety in the work place.
Help customers find the location of products as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Located on the residential side of campus, Sol's Underground is multi platform retail dining unit providing quick service and late night options to students living in the RIT dorms. This unit typically serves 400-500 customers a day over the afternoon, evening and late night hours. Sols provides both On Demand and in person order service.
Minimum Qualifications High School/GED (or equivalent experience) 6 months of experience in a high volume restaurant, country club, or institutional setting, retail Servsafe certified or ability to obtain within six months of hire Allertain certified or ability to obtain within six months of hire
Skills: In depth knowledge of all aspects of cashiering including proper tenders, item identification, refunds Possess professional judgment and ability to independently make sound operational decisions. Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and applications as needed. Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service. Knowledge of cash handling procedures and point of sale system including on line ordering system Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work with and train student employees Must be adaptable to a frequently changing environment and ability to adhere to professional standards in stressful situations. Ability to follow New York State and Monroe County health codes as they relate to health, sanitation and safety.
