Detailed Job Description This position may be fully remote for individuals located outside of the Rochester area. It is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
Software Design at Productivity Laboratory at RIT is engaging in research and development activities with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to support the president's Biden Executive Order in Cybersecurity. In particular, we focus on strengthening the software supply chain. As a part of growing the funded research the Software Design and Productivity Laboratory at Global Cybersecurity Institute needs a Full Stack Software Engineer for the development, operations and support, and enhancements of vulnerability intelligent systems. As a member of the team, full stack developer will be involved with software engineering, support, and thought leadership as it relates to the platform, automation, and other related activities. This position requires working closely with internal team members, Product Owners, Business SMEs and other supporting groups.
The ideal candidates will also serve as full stack software developer and provide DevOps capabilities for their projects.
This is a new strategic capability necessary to support research grant growth with mission-oriented funding agencies such as DHS.
Implement & support code for break-fix, maintenance, and enhancements, and integrating container platforms with automated CI/CD pipelines
Design and develop cloud-native applications, features, and enhancements with an emphasis on clean, highly efficient, supportable, and well documented code for the full technology stack
Provide efficient solution and deliverables to shorten the project life cycle, where applicable
Own the quality of the product delivered by engaging closely in testing activities.
Develop software architecture documents, user manuals, installation guides and other related visual artifacts.
Lead resolution of issues with interfacing systems built on different technologies
Facilitate and participate in regular scrum ceremonies
Support operationally critical environment, using monitoring tools and scripts, data feeds and associated scripts, research, and analysis of production issues, capturing logging

Minimum Qualifications
BS. With 3+ years of experience in working on industrial scale systems and software production environment.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS- List special skills and/or behavioral competencies required to perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
