The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia Engineering invites applications for a Lecturer in Discipline or a Senior Lecturer in Discipline. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Lecturers in Discipline and Senior Lecturers in Discipline are full-time non-tenure-track faculty members who meet a need for instruction in specialized fields.
The Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department is committed to hiring outstanding teachers to support the growing needs of its exceptionally strong undergraduate and MS programs. The IEOR department promotes a culture of innovation and experimentation in teaching, including blended and online learning environments.
We seek candidates with teaching interests in any areas of Operations Research, Data Science, or Financial Engineering. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the educational mission of the Department, which includes developing curricula and courses for relevant graduate and undergraduate programs, executive programs for practitioners, and industry contacts for sponsored projects for experiential learning courses. Since this is a teaching position, applicants must have excellent teaching credentials and communication skills. Experience with blended and online learning and/or industry experience is a plus. Candidates must hold a PhD or its professional equivalent in Operations Research, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of pedagogical excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field. Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, a superlative record of teaching as a lecturer, and documented evidence of pedagogical excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities.
The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
