Assist students and other faculty in the practical applications of analog and digital circuits & electronics; computers, embedded systems & IoT, control systems, communications, and/or other relevant ECE areas,
Provide students with curricular and career advice as appropriate/
Candidates with relevant industry or other practical experience will also be considered for a professor of practice type position, who will be primarily responsible for lab instruction while also providing know-how and technical support with:
prototyping, fabrication, and verification of designs,
operation and execution of laboratory demonstrations and experiments for classes, labs, and research projects,
developing and delivering workshops, tutorials, online, and other training methods to help users get the most out of department equipment, hardware, and software assets.
Applicants with expertise in all fundamental areas of electrical and computer engineering are invited to apply, however, our priority areas of need are: i) digital and embedded systems, computer architecture, ii) circuits/electronics / VLSI systems; iii) modern communication systems, and iv) control systems.
The Department greatly values experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and provides state-of-the-art equipment, instruments, rapid prototyping, fabrication and computational resources to support such activities. Our dedication to project-based learning is reflected in our curriculum, as most of our courses have lab/project components. As a result, we seek individuals who share this dedication, have the skills and passion to develop and deliver innovative design and implementation-based projects and other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools. The successful candidate for the professor of practice position will also help oversee the department’s vast array of equipment and making sure that these resources are properly, effectively, and broadly maintained and utilized.
Applicants must have earned at least a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, with relevant industry and/or academic experience. Strong communications skills, the ability to work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams, and the ability to teach in a project-based, hands-on learning setting are essential.
