The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California Merced invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering with focus on Biomedical Imaging and Bioinstrumentation. The Assistant Professor will work on Biomedical imaging, Imaging scanner development, Imaging detector development, Imaging algorithm, Bioinstrumentation, Lab-on-chip device, or related research areas. We are specifically interested in applicants who develop approaches and applications with the following areas: · Biomedical imaging development · Positron emission tomography (PET) scanner/detector development · Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scanner/detector development · Photon counting computed tomography (CT) imaging · X-ray detector development · Biomedical Optics · Biomedical image processing/reconstruction · Lab-on-chip device

Ph. D. or equivalent degree in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, electrical engineering, or related science and engineering fields (Ph.D. must be conferred by June 30, 2023).
Demonstrated record of research.
Applicants are expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate bioengineering classes, especially classes in the track of bioinstrumentation and biomedical Imaging.
Applicants are expected to have demonstrated potential for excellence in research.
Applicants are expected to develop externally funded research programs.
