Responsible for assembling and leading the team responsible for the assembly, integration and verification of systems including laser diode components and assemblies; optical components and assemblies; power and control electronics; and thermal management hardware and sub-systems. This position will work closely with the customer, product design, product engineering, program management, production, and support teams to ensure the assembly or sub-system is designed, assembled, tested, and completed to the product’s requirements.
Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the assembly, integration and verification of laser diode systems.
Review new product designs including laser diodes, optics, electronics, software, mechanical and thermal management parts for safety, performance and reliability.
Design authority for systems and sub-systems manufactured by Leonardo
Lead project team in the design phase to ensure product assembly/integration plans are developed and documented
Work with suppliers and sub-contractors to define, document and receive sub-systems
Lead system level risk assessment and FMEA. Execute related mitigation actions.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar degree from four-year college/university and a minimum of eight years related experience including management or project lead. Experience with system level integration for the defense and industrial markets with laser experience a plus. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Very flexible, cooperative, “can do” attitude. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Exposure to clean room procedures and electronic test equipment highly desired.
