The Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ohio University seeks applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the IDEAS (https://ouideas.github.io/) Lab which is focused on autonomy, automation, and intelligent systems and their applications to automobiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs). The lab operates a fully self-driving mini-van outfitted with cameras, forward RADAR, LiDAR, and RTK dual antenna GPS and is running opensource autonomy software stacks. We also utilize a motion capture system for indoor drone flights and localization sensor experiments. IDEAS collaborates with the AEC (Avionics Engineering Center) and ORITE (Ohio Research Institute for Transportation and the Environment) at Ohio University. The main lab activities include utilizing and innovating new methods of sensor data filtering, advanced control systems, data interpretation and collection from autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence data processing and control, collision avoidance algorithms, and vehicle performance metric evaluations. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be expected to: 1. Develop Scholarly publications based on research performed. Edit, submit, and revise publications. This may include attending and presenting research at conferences and other venues; 2. Perform research activities related to projects as direct by the PI/Lab director. This may include developing and evaluating algorithms, collecting data during experimental testing, and performing other types of research. 3. Report on activities and duties performed during the research process to sponsors. Write quarterly, monthly, yearly, and final reports for the funded projects.
The candidate must have a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a Related Engineering field by the start date
