As part of the Health Communication Core (HCC) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC), the HCC Web Developer will provide a wide range of advanced technology services to those seeking web-based solutions for cancer research and other projects thru the HCC.?? ??The Web Developer will work collaboratively with users (primarily research faculty) and HCC team members to conceptualize new projects, build and maintain database driven websites, using a range of content management systems (primarily Drupal and WordPress), and support existing web solutions. ????This position offers an opportunity to develop creative solutions to address tech requirements for cutting-edge research projects.
In conjunction with the members of the HCC, this individual will engage with faculty and staff of the DFCI and DF/HCC on observational, behavioral, clinical outcomes, and community-based studies. ??This position works under the supervision of the Director of the HCC and follows established policies and procedures in order to support a wide variety of projects across multiple institutions within the Harvard medical research community.?? ??

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and maintain database driven websites using a range of content management systems (primarily Drupal and WordPress)
Build fully responsive website layout themes for content management systems based on mocked up designs
Ensure proper website functionality between multiple browsers/multiple browser versions and devices
Deploy websites/web applications to cloud servers
Build interactive website features as plugins/modules for content management systems or as stand-alone applications
Write clean, maintainable code, tracked with Git version control
Learn new platforms/technologies to accommodate client projects
Consult with clients to identify the optimal web strategy with required functionality within budget and timeline
Work closely with writers, designers in all stages of web development workflow
Provide leadership in developing a vision for HCC???s integration of new communication technologies into strategy development
Train clients on the appropriate content management systems
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor???s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
3-5 years experience in a similar role
Good working knowledge of PHP
Proficiency with MySQL database development/maintenance
Well-versed in accessibility and security measures in all web projects
Comfortable navigating/deploying web projects to Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP (LAMP) environment
Content management systems
Experience creating/maintaining Drupal and WordPress websites
Experience using Composer workflow for installing/updating modules/plugins
Expertise in building child themes with both Drupal/WordPress
Bootstrap library for responsive layout
React for single page application development
Sass for CSS preprocessor
Git/Github for version control
Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, Xd)
Familiar with Drush and/or Drupal Console CLI for Drupal websites
Experience with document type databases
Experience with AWS cloud products (specifically EC2 containers) and Google Cloud Platform
Proficiency with basic sys admin duties and Linux command line, navigating between local and remote work environments
Experience with Google Analytics
