Experience with system-level virtual modeling and simulation testing of dynamic machine systems and their mutual interactions.
Experience with developing virtual prototype control, software, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems.
Experience with directionally guiding and developing early physical prototype systems based on key learnings derived from virtual analysis.
Experience with dynamic systems modeling tools, such as Matlab, Simulink, Simscape, Stateflow, etc.
Interest in contributing to writing and publishing technical papers that expand the core public knowledge of dynamic systems modeling for advanced machine systems.
Job Description:
The Digital Agriculture Innovations Team within the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University is accepting applications for Engineer position to provide technical leadership in the areas of Dynamic Systems Modeling for mobile vehicle systems and agricultural-based machine systems. The ISU Digital Agriculture Innovation Team (www.isudigitalag.org) consists of professional staff and graduate students who work closely with agricultural industry partners to develop innovative technology solutions for agriculture. The team has a strong innovation record with over 30 patents and licensed technologies.
Daily responsibilities of this position may include:
Modeling the virtual framework, mathematical relationships, design specifications, etc. of dynamic machine systems. Examples could include design of feedback control systems, optimization of suspension systems, etc.
Development of virtual prototypes that integrate control, software, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems.
Performing simulations that test a variety of system parameters and design variables.
Data analysis of simulation results to quantify correlation, system-level performance of an experimental design, etc.
Documenting virtual methodologies used, writing technical engineering reports, and providing design direction and support in early stages of physical development.
This work will be completed in a highly collaborative team environment.Â

In addition to the duties listed, the Engineer II level will be expected to engage in multiple projects with moderate oversight, be responsible for planning timeline and scope for project responsibilities, and directly engage with outside stakeholders.

This is a three-year term position, with expectation for renewal based on performance and availability of funding and will be hired as an Engineer I or II depending on candidate's experience.
