Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
This position works within the College of Arts and Sciences, NSC and the University at large to support research and instructional activities by providing consultation, electronics design and construction and equipment repairs in collaboration with research personnel by applying electronic theory for the design, construction, modification or repair of research apparatus.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and experience performing professional-level work with scientific or engineering research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong experimental background and hands-on experience with design and fabrication of scientific instruments, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to independently apply expertise in decision making
Ability to become familiar with and follow USNRC, (United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations and guidelines
Excellent skills in application of mathematical theory.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Enhanced computer skills, including experience with technical or design programs used for system modeling, such as SPICE, Altium, Eagle, AutoCad and MatLab
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience with the design, development, fabrication, and modification of research science apparatus.
Experience working within a Higher Education institution.
