PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide the technical expertise and supervision for systematically updating, maintaining and planning of Rayle EMC’s distribution system.
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree/Equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Requires a minimum of two years engineering experience. Experience in layout, design and operation of an electrical distribution system is preferred. Requires excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with members, employees, directors and the peers in the industry. Requires ability to become proficient in design of overhead and underground distribution systems. Requires demonstrated proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SQL Server. The candidate should have the ability to learn and manage the SCADA system, Geographical Information System, the staking/design system and power systems analysis software. Must also understand the interfaces between these systems and with other systems such as accounting. Requires self-motivation and discipline to effectively perform duties without supervision. Requires excellent critical thinking and analysis skills for problem solving and planning. Requires the ability to become knowledgeable of Rayle EMC’s policies and procedures and to exercise correct judgment in the application of these policies to the performance of all job duties. Prefer a registered professional engineer. Must posses and maintain a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
General office environment, some business travel, considerable time spent in the field. Outside work in various weather conditions; requires flexibility to be available for overtime, and to work during emergency situations, as necessary. Must have verbal/audio abilities necessary to communicate effectively directly through personal contact and indirectly through two-way radio with members and co-workers.
Manual dexterity is required to maintain proper safety while performing work, while driving a vehicle to and from job sites, while working around electrical equipment, while moving materials with bare hands or working in rubber gloves. Constantly uses visual acuity and sense of hearing to locate possible hazards while performing duties of the position. Must pass employment drug screen before beginning employment.
