Are you a Software Engineer enthusiastic about solving problems in biology, cancer genomics, and their clinical applications? We need you! The Center for Molecular Oncologys (CMO) mission is to promote precision oncology through genomic analysis to guide the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. The CMO brings together clinicians and scientists throughout MSKCC to conduct large-scale translational research involving molecular characterization of patient tumor specimens to identify correlations between genomic features and clinical outcomes.
We are looking for a Full-stackSoftware Engineer to support the cBioPortal for Cancer Genomics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center ( http://cbioportal.org ). The cBioPortal is a highly successful tool that supports the CMO and thousands of cancer researchers and clinicians around the globe. To take the cBioPortal to the next level and transition it towards use in the clinic, we are looking to expand its analysis and visualization options .
You will!
Work closely with cancer researchers and clinicians to translate research problems and clinical needs into software solutions.
Collaborate with team members, engineers from other institutes, and open source community developers to refactor or extend the cBioPortal front- and back-end codebase to support evolving analysis or visualization needs.
Design new interactive features, taking them quickly from prototype to production.
Rapidly troubleshoot and solve problems with existing software systems.
Participate in a development team that continually seeks to increase performance and is open to adopting new software engineering techniques and practices toward this goal.
You Have!
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
2+ years of software development experience
Web application development experience
Experience with Javascript/Typescript, React, Angular (or equivalent framework), HTML, and CSS
Experience with Java, C/C++, Python, or equivalent server-side languages
Experience developing in teams using Git/GitHub or other source code control systems
