WHAT YOU'LL DO
Understand the needs and process flows in medical power systems (power supplies, batteries, and chargers) procurement within Medical Devices and/or Diagnostics areas.
Recommends or supports value analysis & value engineering activities to business stakeholders to bring best value for Abbott Laboratories.
This role will work across multiple Divisions of Abbott. The day-to-day responsibilities of this position requires tactical tasks that involves management of stakeholders, management of databases, developing master service agreements, and statements of work. The position is expected to be a subject matter expert on procurement policies, power systems strategies, preferred supplier capabilities and their use in Abbott products. And will guide stakeholders in agreement on document templates, preferred suppliers' selection and leveraging cross divisional spend. The Specialist will have delegated authority to commit company funds while contributing to cost savings in partnerships with suppliers and internal customers.
Assist category managers in category strategy development or management. Applies technical knowledge or procurement experience to execute the purchasing and supply chain management strategies created by the Category Managers.
Work with, internal stakeholders and suppliers to solve issues and drive high levels of customer service.
Proactively seek innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels.
Full understanding of the "Global Procurement Strategies". Ability to work across regions and multiple categories on strategies that bring efficiencies through synergies and positive value to the organization. Works within defined processes and procedures and may help determine appropriate approaches for change.
First line responder; pivots between strategy, operations and transactional sourcing
Execute against category strategies and work in the guidance of strategic category leaders to drive saving goals
Support category strategy development and management through analysis, supplier capability research, and development of category purchasing trends.
Enable supplier integration and KPI's and implement agreed purchasing strategies for category.
Support category managers in supplier negotiations
Manage MSA/SOWs/RFI's/Ordering documents. Assist with supplier Identification and selection.
Develop insights into the divisions' areas of product development, regulatory, quality assurance and supply chain to anticipate stakeholder needs and respond with value added solutions
Manage day to day supply issues. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Communicates pertinent information to both internal customers and suppliers to keep apprised and to prevent problems.
Support cost forensics lab or sustaining engineering groups in VAVE activities on major products.
Seek and support business relationships with diverse suppliers
Meet regularly with divisional customers and support functions to ensure good customer satisfaction and continuous improvement
Exhibit cultural awareness with foreign business entities
Seek, develop, and maintain business relationships with suppliers, clients and customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelors Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, Financial or equivalent experience.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management desired
CPM certification desired
1-3 years or Procurement experience. Functional experience.
Preferred
Strong people skills, strong problem- solving skills, strong business acumen and skilled in spreadsheet programs.
Good communication skills (written and verbal). Good interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
