Development Tech Leads contribute towards the overall data integration architecture and design of multi-terabyte marketing solutions that integrate and optimize our client's data across numerous sources. Merkle's solutions enable our clients to better communicate to their customers and prospects across several marketing channels and media. Development Tech Leads will be immersed in the development and maintenance of marketing database solutions to meet client business objectives. You will have an opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team across various divisions of the CXM group.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute towards data warehouse architecture and ETL design
- Build and maintain SQL procedures and ETL processes
- Manage and mentor a team of developers in a matrix organization
- Design and implement technical vision for client projects
- Own or contribute to overall project architecture and technical delivery of solution
- Interact with clients on a regular basis * Assist in requirements gathering and data analysis as needed
- Estimate work effort and assist the Project Manager with task planning and LOE (level of effort) estimates
- Provide technical leadership and oversight of a project development team
- Review work product of others for compliance with development standards
- Provide guidance and mentoring in database marketing development best practices
- Write technical documentation
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience designing and implementing large databases and data warehouses utilizing both relational and dimensional design concepts
- Experience with Data Modeling for data warehouses and other relational databases - Experience with Erwin Data Modeler a plus
- Scripting language skills, such as python, Linux Shell are a nice to have
- Significant understanding of relational and dimensional database concepts
- Strong understanding of SQL and database programming
- Strong understanding of file management concepts, processes, and tools - sFTP, PGP Encryption, Sterling
- Strong understanding of scheduling/automation concepts, processes, and tools - Tidal
- Strong understanding of common IT (Information of Technology) offerings - e.g., Operating systems, storage, backups
- Strong understanding of database platforms - SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, PostgreSQL
- Understanding of cloud technologies and/or big data platforms - AWS, GCP, Azure
- Strong knowledge of software engineering and development methodologies, techniques, and tools, including Git, Issue Tracking (Jira), and Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall, agile)
- Ability to serve as technical point of contact for the solution both internally to Merkle and in interactions directly with the client
- Strong project/task management skills
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Ability to present, both verbal and written, to team members, capability members, portfolio members, and clients at the appropriate technological level
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related IT field, or relevant professional experience
- 4-7+ years' experience with ETL tool(s) - Talend, SSIS, DataStage or other like tools
- 4-7+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or other major RDBMS such as Redshift
- 2+ years' experience as a team lead, managing teams and architecture decisions
- Experience with Customer Data Integration or Master Data Management preferred
- Knowledge of database marketing, familiar with client campaign processing
- Technical consulting/solutioning experience a plus

The anticipated salary range for this position is $119,000-$159,000. Salary is based on a wide range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
