Job Description
Position Summary
The Innovation Architect will create and support a culture of innovation aligned to the company's Internal Innovation vision and strategy. He/she will be primarily responsible for global programs and processes to operationalize innovation and connect barriers, solutions, and people. This person will establish and coach multi-disciplinary Innovation teams empowered to work entrepreneurially, challenge current thinking and practices, and create customer and business value in ways unlikely to emerge from existing methods.
Essential Functions
Functional:
- Owns the development of the internal innovation platform through voice of customer, product ownership, and feature development in HTML, JavaScript, and TypeScript, leveraging MongoDB.
- Leads design and development of the innovation platform, including capture of global Voice of Customer (VOC) from internal users and stakeholders and management of the development backlog.
- Provides strategy for integrating innovation within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), earns stakeholder support, enables execution, and shares best practices globally.
- Serves as a champion and coach for innovation teams, helps to gain senior leader sponsorship, guides the implementation process, and removes roadblocks.
- Convenes, supports, and leverages an Innovation Community of Practice from within business units and functions.
- Supports strategy and execution of innovation vehicles to foster a culture of experimentation, inspire, and meaningfully engage targeted employee segments, driving disruptive revenue growth.
- Develops a current knowledge of innovation methodologies, frameworks, and research that may be applied within the company.
- Documents and shares a repertoire of examples, workflows, and best practices business units and functions can utilize.
- Develops, tracks, and reports activity and impact-based innovation metrics.
Leadership:
- Guides the company in thinking past current constraints to imagine a different future.
- Presents new opportunities to all levels of the organization and influences others to gain buy-in and alignment.
- Trains and leads volunteer teams in innovation platform development and utilization of website development best practices
- Leads cross-company alignment and collaboration to accelerate innovation.
- Applies knowledge of Rockwell Automation businesses, culture, and customer value to increase the quality and impact of innovation activities.
- Invests time in the development and coaching of others.
- Manages, trains, and hires interns and rotational employees
Interpersonal:
- Demonstrates optimism and agility in adjusting to new opportunities and challenges.
- Connects ideas and talent, serving as a networking resource for internal innovators.
- Ensures innovators feel heard and supported.
- Eagerly takes on initiatives and challenges, taking controlled risks while remaining passionate about driving toward well-defined goals.

- Leads the incubation and transformation of ideas into products, to create core, adjacent, and transformational growth through new revenue streams.
- Guides the organization in relentless focus on customer and business value.
- Fosters greater customer intimacy among employees, helping employees deliver solutions for unmet customer needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with an emphasis on software engineering, product development, and/or innovation.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Experience in website development.
- MBA focused on entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Agile development and methodology.
- Scrum Master (PSM I) certification.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and feedback skills.
- Demonstrated success leading global culture change at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of industry-recognized innovation models and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute a corporate innovation strategy and framework.
- Experience leading employees, contractors, and interns.
- Experience communicating effectively with senior leaders and among cross-functional teams, middle-management, and large-scale employee bases.
- Proven experience in both large corporations and technology startups.
- Comfort with uncertainty and ability to navigate complex situations with competing priorities.
