The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Initiating, identifying, recommending, and leading projects in the manufacturing area of responsibility to improve product cost, service, quality, process safety and health/environmental impact
- Being responsible for performing and guiding technical activities resulting from approved, self-initiated, or assigned manufacturing programs leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products/technologies having major importance to the business
- Leading improvement projects and problem-solving events to determine root causes for problems that occur and implement permanent long-term solutions to resolve those problems
- Monitoring and improving manufacturing operations using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology (design of experiments, statistical process control, lean management system, kaizens, DMAIC)
- Working closely with production and maintenance teams to perform troubleshooting activities and resolve equipment/downtime issues.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of experience in manufacturing/production in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment (private, public, government or military)
- Demonstrated project leadership abilities on highly technical and complex projects
- Ability to lead and contribute across a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma/Quality Improvement
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
- Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab a plus
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
