Java Software Engineer

The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Design and develop software tools to complement our NLU Platform
• Manage large scale deployments of NLU Platform into the cloud
• Deploying cutting edge technology (e.g. Kubernetes, ML microservices)
• Working in an agile environment with short sprints, a blend of coding and scripting, and new technology exploration.
• Being a creative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, working across teams and organizations.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field

OR

• High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified from start) and ten (10) years experience in automation and deployment

• Three (3) years of experience with Java development

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience in creating and maintaining continuous integration systems such as Jenkins
• Experience working on AWS in a production capacity
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Terraform/Ansible
• Understanding of Kubernetes
• Experience with Linux based systems, including shell scripting
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
• Solid understanding of version control systems such as Git or Mercurial
• Understanding of operational concepts such as distributed systems, alerting, monitoring, logging, and incident management
• Understanding of network engineering concepts such as firewalls and load balancers

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or REMOTE

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
