Anticipated Start Date: Detailed Job DescriptionThe Department of Computing Security at RIT invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position beginning August 2022. The successful candidates will be able to teach a range of courses, covering basic and advanced topics, in computing security and computer science. This may include: introduction to computer science (including programming in Java and Python); fundamentals of computing security, cryptography, systems and network security, etc.

Department/College DescriptionThe College:
Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT is one of the most comprehensive computing colleges in the nation. The college is housed in modern facilities in Rochester, NY, that include leading programs in computer science, game design and cybersecurity. As home to the countrys first undergraduate programs in software engineering and information technology, as well as the recently opened Global Cybersecurity Institute, Golisano College has long been a leader in computing education and research. Faculty, staff and students have access to specialized studios, labs, and equipment that are among the most complete and current of any university in the world. Moreover, Golisano College graduates go on to work at the worlds leading tech firms and have developed groundbreaking technology like the Kinect for Xbox 360 and game-changing innovations like jQuery. The college is home to the departments of Computer Science, Computing Security, and Software Engineering, as well as the School of Information, the School of Interactive Games & Media, and a college-wide PhD program, providing abundant opportunities for research collaboration within and beyond the college.
THE DEPARTMENT:
Computing Security: Established in 2012 to address critical security challenges cutting across computing disciplines, the computing security department is located in the new state-of-the-art Global Cybersecurity Institute building. The department currently has 16 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research in computing security. The department offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in computing security with current enrollment of 500 and 60 students, respectively. The PhD program is administered within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. RIT is designated as one of National Center for Academic Excellence in both Cyber Defense Education and Research by the Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency. The department seeks to advance the computing security discipline and to meet the rapidly growing need of computing security professionals in the workforce. RITs cyber defense team is a perennial contender in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition and won the national championship in 2013. The department engages in a wide range of research in topics such as Cyber Analytics, Machine Learning, Applied Cryptography, Privacy, Digital Forensics, Network Security, Usable Security, and Cybersecurity Pedagogy.

Required Minimum Qualifications- Completion of a minimum M.S. in a computing related field
- Ability to teach courses across computing security and introductory computer science curriculum
- Ability to contribute to curriculum and course development in computing security
- Strong commitment to undergraduate computing security education
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
