About the Opportunity: Software Developer (Image stack processing, DNA sequencing)The Nanoscale Biophysics Laboratory at Northeastern University is seeking a skilled software developer to develop a DNA sequencing software based on optical analysis of single-molecule fluorescence data. The successful candidate must be an expert in python or imageJ, expertise in GPU-based image processing, be knowledgeable in statistics, AI/machine learning, and able to communicate regularly with research scientists on development and optimization of the DNA sequencing software and customization of the GUI interface. Although a Boston-area developer would be optimal, relocation is not a requirement to fulfil the requirements of this position.
Responsibilities: Developing DNA sequencing software based on optical analysis of single-molecule fluorescence data (60%). Performing statistical research (30%). Collaborating with research scientists to develop the software (10%).
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Physics, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering, Computer Software Engineering, Computer Engineering Technologies, or related field required.
Candidates must have a healthy balance of hard and soft skills. This person will be working to outline and create the code and design for DNA sequencing software, but will also involve collaboration between research scientists at Northeastern's College of Science.
Proficient knowledge of python or imageJ, GPU-based image processing, and be knowledgeable in statistics, AI/machine learning.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
