What you’ll be doing...
Security Engineer will be responsible for managing and driving security related projects, compliance and reporting spanning multiple applications for a Verizon software development and engineering team. Key activities include navigating a wide variety of Verizon security, inventory and legal assessment teams and tools to ensure full compliance to corporate and industry standards; regular data gathering and reporting on security issues; and driving security issues back through software engineering and development teams. You will be managing security and compliance related tasks for the team. You will function with limited direction and guidance and be able to identify problem areas and drive resolutions through the team. You will need excellent interpersonal communication skills as you interface with development teams, management and other Verizon groups. You will assess issues and requests from other security, compliance and legal teams and as necessary communicate the information to peers, support groups, and management. You will work in a team environment, demonstrate leadership skills, follow established business processes and procedures, and fulfill tasks and responsibilities. You will be developing a basic understanding of all applications maintained by the team.
Act as Custodian of approximately 60 applications, including hardware inventories.
Monitoring and reporting on system vulnerabilities.
Managing network filter requests, prepared by the team.
Preparing and hosting weekly meetings to report current status, including hot items.
Managing assessments required by legal teams, assessments for application security compliance.
Managing exceptions and preparing summaries for executive approvals.
Onboarding and off-boarding of contractors, including requesting and recovering PCs, tools, badges, etc.
Work Schedule – 8am – 5pm – Provide any out of normal work week schedule as needed. Work Locations: Colorado Springs, CO or Richardson, TX
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of progressive, technical, job-related experience as one or more of the following: security engineer, developer, system engineer, system administrator or database administrator.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related discipline.
System/software security knowledge.
MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
Experience with database/SQL.
VBA development skills in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint.

If you are hired into a Colorado work location, the compensation range for this position is between $83,000 and $155,000 based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
