Provides customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
This position as a Field Support Engineer requires an individual with strong technical and communication skills relating to the development and deployment of Industrial Electrical conversion projects. The individual will need to support customers throughout the project lifecycle. This will include providing detailed design engineering and component specification. System Factory Acceptance Testing, installation, and customer training are essential components of the project lifecycle. An individual in this role will be a contributing part of a project team but also responsible to direct, supervise, lead and review all assigned engineering personnel and their assigned tasks for a project. The individual will assign tasks, monitor performance, review results, coordinate efforts, and track hour usage on projects.
Position is located in our Rockwell Automation Kingsford, Michigan Field Office
Design and oversee industrial electrical conversion projects including specifying components, detailed design and onsite installation
Manage customer relationships ensuring customer satisfaction on all projects
Provide budget analysis, labor planning and coordination of activities with customers
Monitor project completion from initiation through completion to meet project margin and schedule
Provide commercial support, implement new opportunities; continue to grow IPS business
Assist and/or prepare customer sales proposals as required.
Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent
Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this position
Up to 10% travel
5+ years of industrial electrical power and control systems experience
Working knowledge of industrial motor controls, variable frequency drives and soft starters
Knowledge of electrical power system equipment installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance
Knowledge of the National Electric Code, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Able to work through complex problems needing in depth analysis
Able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
