The Power Electronics Architect is responsible for conceptual development of converters and power architecture for a complete line of Industrial Drives products. With extensive knowledge of power converters, switching devices (IGBT, SiC), SMPS, Gate drives, Magnetics,.. the successful candidate will ensure a high level of modularity, cost effectiveness, sustainability and reuse achieved across various product platforms.
Keeps abreast of current technology trends, owns the Power Electronics technical roadmap, and leads the Power Electronics stream for Common Architecture Vision strategy.
Supports NPI programs, reviewing PRD and FRS documents in the initial stages of product development, responsible for generating high level requirements and design specifications.
Has basic project management skills, including schedules and estimation. Will work with other system or functional architects to enable delivery of simplified and differentiated products and solutions to solve real world problems for our customers. S/He will collaborate cross functionally within the Architecture and Development organizations and partner closely with the Product Management team to develop the common architecture vision and implementation strategy that will bring Connected Enterprise to Life.
Delivers and supports the deployment of re-usable engineering content to the product ARTs and leads the associate knowledge capture.
Responsible for participating in competitive analysis exercises to determine new product requirements.
Supports both pre and post sales activities in identifying opportunities and recommend concept solution to increase revenue. Interface with customers in developing concept and articulating benefits and RA value
Develops architectural document that thoroughly explain conceptual thoughts, conditions, restrictions, analysis, synthesis, and simulations that serve as blueprint for design.

B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics or equivalent
Minimum of 8 years working as a design lead and leader - Proven ability to influence change and build effective partnerships in a matrix environment.
5 years of related experience in adjustable speed drive development
Knowledge of U.L., C.S.A., and CE Standards.
Expertise in appropriate engineering tools such as Matlab Simulink, Simplorer, etc.
Familiar at analyzing EMC susceptibility and emissions from power conversion products.
Knowledge in electrical power devices such as: IGBT's, SiC, Magnetics, Switch mode Power Supplies, Bus Structures and Power Capacitors.
M.A.Sc. Degree or relevant advanced degree preferred.
Understands how customers use our products and how they fit into target applications and system environments.
Understands the competitive landscape for RA technology and products.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and differentiation.
Demonstration of technical leadership experiences in electrical engineering and power electronics.
Knowledge of control principal of grid tie converter and/or active front end rectifier design.
Knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical circuits and systems in all three of the disciplines of analog, digital, and power using simulation tools and procedures.
