R&D Software Engineer
Applicable R&D Manager
Working as part of the R&D organisation, the role demands a significant and imaginative contribution to the design and development of lifesaving defibrillator technology and support applications.
This is an individual contributor role that requires the use of judgement in applying professional expertise and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Areas of Responsibility
To assist in the design/development of a new product or system.
To support the modification, redesign, or maintenance of existing products
To support problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.
Under supervision, conduct research and studies to support product design.
To identify, specify and implement debugging and test requirements for his/her designs and/or existing products.
To design to specification and generate the required documentation for each phase of the design cycle.
To understand and apply the Company Quality Procedures and actively contribute to and within, the company's Quality System
To understand and apply all appropriate Regulatory and Safety Requirements to any product/project design undertaken or proposed
To document design changes according to Company Quality Procedures
To identify suppliers for new components, software and technical equipment
To maintain awareness of the latest technologies and design methodologies
To attend and contribute to Design Review meetings
To provide support to Manufacturing as required
To support all company products in house and at customer premises
Undertake any external visits as and when required
To maintain awareness of Company Health and Safety Policy and Fire Evacuation Procedure and take all reasonable precautions against personal harm and/or injury
Any other duties deemed necessary by the R&D Director/Software Manager/Principal Software Engineer/Engineering Manager
Qualifications Knowledge Skills:
Level 6 degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline.
Experience working within a regulated quality system
Experience working with sensors and/or Internet of Things
Source control systems
Medical Device Software
C and/or C++ and/or similar high-level languages
Windows Software Development
Experience with integrated development environments (IDE) for projects.
Experience with tools for static/dynamic analysis, memory management, code coverage and techniques for analysing software.
Software Development Life Cycle processes.
