The OEM Engagement Manager is responsible for leading a team of GOTC to support the OEM Team in OEM customer engagements for technology adoption of RA control, power and software products. Customer Engagements include proof of concept, system architecture review / recommendations, customer visits, application programming consultation, machine development and debug assistance. The OEM Engagement Manager will be responsible for collaborating with the OEM Segment teams, regional OEM sales resources, commercial and marketing teams to drive out technical resource and development needs of the GOTC application team. This individual will develop and execute the organizational and procedural plans to align with the Global / AP /India OEM business strategy.
*Maintain a team of engineers that are capable of supporting the suite of RA control, software, motion, drive and component products in the OEM target application segments.
*Develop and manage the process and systems to track project activity and time management for the GOTC's.
*Develop and manage the process on how resource requests are made and how the requests are qualified and work scope defined.
*Work with the OEM Segment teams to identify new application solutions to promote sales growth. Execute plans through the GOTC teams.
*Assure the GOTC team leaders are aligned to support the OEM segment strategies with the GOTC resources assigned.
*Align the GOTC managers / team leaders to the assigned regional sales resources to be effective in assessing and executing on customer engagement requests.
*Work with sales teams as required assuring customer engagements are successful through proper project definition and execution. Engage as necessary on customer / project escalations.
*Work with senior management to understand the strategic direction for the OEM team. Define and implement plans to meet the needs and effectively communicate it to the GOTC team members.
*Engage with the project management team as required to establish project team resources and develop a project plan for execution.
*Work with the field regional teams to support local OEM customer activity and competency needs. Verify the local resources are being utilized properly, but provide support when product or application knowledge is needed for pre-sales support.
*As part of the leadership team, work with the OEM Team to develop and maintain internal processes to drive team efficiency and effectiveness.
*Ensure (through interface with Product Marketing, Strategic Marketing, and Development Engineering) that products meet customer expectations of functionality, ease of use, and maintenance.
*Develop, attract and retain key talent within the GOTC sub teams.
*Help formulate and implement strategies to accelerate sales growth through effective customer engagement execution.
*Work with the OEM Segment BDMs to insure alignment between target applications to the GOTC teams capabilities. Create development plans as required.
*Work with the other regional OEM Engagement managers to align strategies, organizations and procedures.
*Work with the Global OEM team to align resources to meet the development needs for standards, libraries and best practices.
*Make sound business decisions regarding the prioritization of GOTC resources to address strategic needs as well as tactical situations that arise in the field.
*Performance management and development of the staff assigned to the OEM Engagement Manager. This includes performance appraisal, career guidance and counseling, measurable goal setting, and development planning for each engineer in his/her group.
*Build relationships with employees in other areas, divisions, and groups within the company, including: product division marketing, development engineering, management, sales, industry teams, CSM.
*Interface with Product Management, Engineering, Design Assurance, Marketing Communications, Sales and Support staff, and other Commercial Marketing staff.
*Ability to verbally communicate with customers in person, and via the telephone.
*Work with the regional director to determine strategies to expand in new OEM segment growth areas. Add and develop new resources to meet these needs.
*Establish and assure adherence to the department budget.
*Work with the OEM team to help define strategic direction of the OEM initiative and the GOTC team.
*Respond promptly to sales requests for OEM engagement needs.
*Respond promptly escalated OEM project issues and provide leadership and direction.
*Support the global OEM teams as required for competency needs, application questions or requests for GOTC support in that region.
*Ability to travel Globally, based on customer requirements
Key Competency Requirements
*Working knowledge of all Rockwell Automation core products (i.e. PLCs, Motion, HMI products, Networking, Software, and I/O).
*Widely regarded internally/externally as an automation system expert.
*Typically 10+ years of control and/or computers systems experience.
*Proven ability to perform application/product/system troubleshooting over the phone.
*Good communication and negotiation skills
*Solid business writing skills.
Educational Qualifications / Work Experience
*Bachelor of Science in a technical field (ie: BS Electrical Engineering, BS Engineering Technology, BS Computer Science) or equivalent knowledge in personal computer hardware/software, or industrial and process controls.
*8 years management experience leading a engineering or technical team.
