Detailed Job Description Please note: The scheduled shift for this position is Saturday through Wednesday from 6 am to 3 pm
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities, respond to service calls and provide skilled trade maintenance for all service calls from residents and customers within designated housing area(s). Repairs may include, but are not limited to, electrical, HVAC, hot water, clogged pipes, leaking faucets, etc. Provide all aspects of cleaning services to common areas of Global Village residential areas, commercial areas and plaza exterior.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform duties in all aspects of routine and restorative tasks of cleaning such as: vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, trash removal, window cleaning, restroom cleaning, floor refinishing, and operation of automatic cleaning equipment for hard floors and carpeting.
Clean common area kitchens, lounges and study spaces daily
Pick up litter and debris to keep assigned areas clean and presentable
Understand MSDS sheets and safe work practices
Set up tables, chairs, and other required tasks for special use of reserved spaces
Provide skilled trades maintenance in the areas of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, drywall and finishing, masonry, door and window repair/replacement as assigned.
Follow through to completion ongoing preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by Supervisor
Monitor work scheduled by outside contractors (i.e., painters, cleaners, etc.) to insure quality standards established have been achieved
Facilitate lock changes within assigned areas
Provide access/escort to assigned areas for contract work while units are occupied as needed
Monitor and update assigned work orders through the StarRez Housing Management System
Complete inspections as residents move out and compile work assessments to restore units to an out & clean status
Comply with OSHA, NYS Building Codes, EPA, and DEC requirements
Participate in rotational schedule to respond to service calls received after business hours
Department/College Description RIT Housing Operations and Student Auxiliary Services are responsible for maintaining and repairing the facilities and mechanical systems throughout RIT housing including all facilities within Global Village. The primary focus is to accomplish daily work orders, manage custodial tasks, and preventative maintenance tasks in a cost efficient manner while providing support services that exceed our customer's expectations.

Required Minimum Qualifications
3 to 5 years experience in custodial services, and building maintenance or related trades in a commercial or residential setting.
Must have mechanical and electrical equipment knowledge.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy (please refer to page 4)
