SUMMARY We are working with a manufacturer of highly customized and extremely diverse specialty products to identify a Sr. Process Automation Engineer. Known for high volume and quick turnaround production, our client produces and ships product to over 100 countries across the globe. Located in the greater Pittsburgh area, this company offers a dynamic fast paced environment with strong capital backing. The Sr. Process Automation Engineer is a newly created position with Board visibility. This company has been on a journey of digitization and are now at the point where they are ready to take next steps into automation.
This person will lead the way for this company’s automation agenda and be highly skilled at identifying, developing, and supporting automation opportunities across various business units. These opportunities include both design and custom automation cells, as well as improvement of existing equipment and processes, and will deliver improved quality and/or productivity via touch point reduction.

POSITION • Identifies opportunities for automation, capturing current state process flow and quantitatively representing value of the future state operation. • Implements automated processes targeting indirect labor optimization, including material handling, machine tending, and packaging automation. • Installs and improves data acquisition within the process. • Analyzes data to develop and support a position. • Maintains facility layout using AutoCAD. • Designs and executes equipment upgrades to improve process repeatability, decreases setup times, or reduces workplace hazards. • Supports production processes to identify and eliminate waste. • Executes continuous improvement activities to reduce manufacturing costs and increase product and process quality. • Designs, manufacturers, improves and maintains fixtures for supported production departments. • Develops clear and concise work instructions and procedures. • Executes capital projects on time and on budget.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. • 5+ years of experience working on industrial automation projects. • Experience with PLC, robotics, and vision systems. • Knowledge and experience with packaging design and automation is a plus. • Ability to travel 10% between North American facilities. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
