Detailed Job Description The Associate Director for MCAS(Multicultural Center for Academic Success); Assessment and Academic Success is essential to the mission of the Multicultural Center and its goal of building community, trust, and academic success of RIT's under-represented student populations.
This position is directly responsible for:
Execute and drive the assessment, analysis and evaluation of MCAS and its programs.
Develop and lead the academic success initiatives for MCAS.
Manage DDI's tutoring program.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by supervisor.
RIT reserves the right to add to or change duties at any time based on operational needs.
This position report to the Director of MCAS.
Major Responsibilities include:
Extracts, collects, analyzes, and reports information related to MCAS programs and student performance as well as manage databases for assessment data. Support assessment initiatives and program evaluation with specific attention in implementing data-driven diversity, equity, and student interventions focused on helping the university close achievement gaps outlined in RIT's strategic plan.
Uses assessment data to determine outcomes and make improvements for all MCAS programs.
Assists with data collection; provide analysis and interpretation of results.
Prepares annual reports for both internal and external use and distribution.
Analyzes, assesses, and evaluates effectiveness of MCAS and its programs.
Evaluate continuously the effectiveness of assessment activities and make recommendations for improvement to the Director.
Consults with professional staff in MCAS to provide research design and data analysis support and/or collaborate on research projects.
Coordinates divisional efforts on long-range projects and strategic planning with the Director for Assessment & Research Management.
Develop systems to captures data for all areas of MCAS, Multicultural Programs and MOSAIC.
Develop Institute Effectiveness reports on behalf of MCAS.
Manage databases and student success platforms, such as Campusgroups and StarFish, for use and implementation for MCAS.
Assist the Director of MCAS in strategies and program ideas to help close achievement gaps of RIT's underrepresented student populations through MCAS.
Academic Success Initiatives
Serve as the point person to coordinate academic programs focused on helping the university close the achievement gaps outlined in RIT's strategic plan.
Collaborates with campus departments and programs on initiatives that provide students with support for historically difficult courses, which inhibit student success.
Lead the centers student academic casing meetings and develops strategies and success plans to assist students.
Maintain partnerships with Academic Support Center and other academic success units.
Develop, implement and assess a data driven academic model of success based on DDI's programs and initiatives.
Provides on-going and comprehensive support to students especially with issues, which serve as barriers to academic success including financial and personal issues.
Designs and discusses with MCAS mentoring and assessment services structured to empower students in their academic and career choices.
Monitors and supports the academic progress of a caseload of MCAS students enrolled in a variety of the college curricula through an intensive case management approach evidenced by regular meetings with students. Advise staff and students and refer to institute offices as needed.
Manages Division of Diversity & Inclusion tutoring program
Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates peer tutors in the peer tutoring program. Process appropriate paperwork with Student Employment Office. Ensure that all paperwork is collected, filed and kept for the requisite time period.
Works with Division programs, academic departments and faculty to identify appropriate tutors.
Facilitates tutor payroll process including monitoring for discrepancies, completing payroll change forms as necessary, reviewing and signing off on Kronos, and ensuring that payroll and payroll paperwork is 100% accurate.
Serves as liaison with the ASC Tutor Training Coordinator and provide appropriate training for tutors.
Hires and manages the tutors during the DDI Summer Experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications Experience:
3-5 years of work experience in quantitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting with a strong focus on data quality and continuous improvement processes.
Bachelors Degree in higher education or a research-oriented field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Requires the ability to conduct assessment and research.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of current and innovative practices in assessment and evaluation
Experience in tutoring and advising students in STEM areas
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Master's Degree in higher education or a research-oriented field is preferred.
2-4 years of significant professional experience working with AALANA, first generation, low-income, and underrepresented students in a higher education setting preferred.
Experience with Statistical Analysis software.
