The Knowledge Systems Group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is currently seeking a full-stack Software Engineer to build cloud platforms for Immuno-Oncology biomarker data.
The Knowledge Systems Group (KSG) operates at the crossroads of cancer genomics, software, and medicine. Our platforms are focused on mining cancer genomic data sets, matching patients to clinical trials, and building cloud-based infrastructure for sharing data across cancer centers. KSG is participating in a NCI sponsored Cancer Moonshot initiative called the ImmunoOncology Biomarkers Network (https://cimac-network.org/) and KSG is building the data coordination and distribution system called the Cancer Immunologic Data Commons.

Build backend services and APIs in Python, and interact with databases.
Understand many different biomarker data and metadata and help develop data models to store it.
Build front end user interfaces via React for both file retrieval and data analysis.
Orchestrate and maintain services via cloud first devops frameworks.
Write automated test suites and perform code reviews.
Maintain full documentation regarding architecture, code and devops services.
Interact, communicate and prioritize features via Agile development process.
Work closely with the project lead and other stakeholders to ensure that systems evolve based on continuous feedback
The Software Engineer will be responsible for working with scientists, computational biologists, and other software engineers in a collaborative manner.
Bachelor's or Master???s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
2+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years of Python coding experience.
Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, especially Postgres.
Strong interest in contributing to biological research with clinical applications.
Experience with containerization of software (e.g. Docker).
Experience in modern software development technologies, including distributed versioning systems, continuous integration, and Agile programming practices.
User interaction (UI) design and/or experience in data visualization considered a significant plus.
The candidate must also demonstrate strong communication skills, outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask is a must.
