The Product Security Lead/Architect for the Motion Control Business is the central authority for product security for the Motion Control System including Kinetix Drives, motor, and independent cart products. This position is responsible for coordinating Motion control product security efforts across Rockwell Automation and within the business. This includes awareness of the state-of-the-art, industry standards, and security best practices. This further includes establishing standards, processes, and guidelines within the motion control business to establish world-class security in motion control products and institutionalizing them within the business practices.
Consult, review, and audit the proper application of security principles and techniques with product groups across Rockwell Automation.
Research current security trends in Industrial Control Systems, embedded systems, hardware design, cloud-to-edge, and application security and collaborate with security experts to ensure proper security requirements are put in place.
Be a security thought leader within Rockwell Automation through educating internal personnel and influencing proper security development techniques and tools.
Provide guidance to senior levels of management regarding product security risk and exposure.
Be the change agent towards current security development practices, methods, and skills. Drive the implementation of the security processes, guidelines, and tools.
Manage Design for Security (DfS) requirements.
Oversee 62443 certifications (work with engineering leadership on plans and track progress)
Manage security for a portfolio of critical product line(s) across the product business unit.
Drive business growth with the development of business and technology strategies to improve the security of existing and new products, by conducting assessments of existing and potential markets, and enabling sales & technical teams.
Responsible for setting the direction for security, both vulnerability remediation and features across the assigned portfolio. Ensure adherence to security standards and provide guidance and input to standards enhancements. Provide guidance on prioritization and funding.
Develop short- and long-range business plans for product lines consistent with the market needs and corporate strategies.
Gather customer/market requirements for product/system enhancements. Work with the appropriate product teams to get the enhancements incorporated into the product line.
Represents the business unit for customer presentations and meetings with regards to security
Work with the Rockwell Automation sales and distribution channels including relationships with field leadership, competency tools, and sales presentations for awareness on security.
Position requires an understanding of security in the IT and automation markets, competitive offerings, and customer needs to provide direction and implementation in Rockwell Automation control system products and services.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, creativity and strategic development, and a proven ability to drive results.
Strong communication skills and an ability to work within a global remote team environment also critical to achieve the business objectives.
Bachelor's degree in Security, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
5+ years of application and/or software/firmware development experience in a professional setting
2+ years of experience in demonstrating Security Development Lifecycle concepts (i.e., secure code reviews, threat modeling, and penetration testing)
Industrial cybersecurity and/or information technology knowledge with subsequent certifications.
5+ years related experience in industrial automation, software development/application and/or security.
Minimum of 3 years in team leadership or management.
Experience with change transformation
Excellent communication skills
Understanding and experience implementing security standards such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and/or IEC 62443
Security certification(s) such as CISSP, CEH, Applicable GIAC Certifications, OSCP, CySec Specialist (TUV Rheinland), or an advanced degree in cybersecurity.
Knowledge of communication protocols, preferably Ethernet and/or Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), and modern Intel and ARM architectures
Advanced coursework and/or training related to secure software engineering, application security, cloud security, embedded systems, and/or securing operating systems.
