What You Will Do
As a Senior Software R&D Manager for Surgical Data Sciences, you will lead a global team of software engineers based in San Jose, CA, Vancouver, BC, and Gurgaon, India. The successful candidate will gain a deep understanding of the clinical use cases in minimally invasive & open surgeries and lead their team to develop the appropriate surgical data sciences & machine learning solutions to drive fluorescence imaging as a standard of care. You will build strong partnerships with key opinion leaders and technology vendors to help shape the surgical data sciences product strategy and technology roadmap.
You will also be an integral part of the cross-functional new product development leadership team and drive the R&D deliverables for discovery and active projects. You will report to the Senior Director of R&D for Global Software, and you will support the continuous improvement of Stryker Endoscopy's product development tools and processes.
You Will Also Be Responsible For
You will provide leadership to the global surgical data sciences software team to drive innovation, set team goals, and execute projects.
You will provide employee development, team building, coaching, and mentoring.
You will drive global software team member hiring, engagement, corrective action, and terminations.
You will track the status of employee training and certifications and supply timely guidance.
You will facilitate and drive intra-team and cross-team communications.
You will provide technical guidance to the team, in surgical data science and integrated operating room platform design, throughout the software development life cycle.
You will engage in the review and design of the software, including technical review and analysis of source code.
You will work closely with the Principal Engineers to ensure that sound architectural practices are defined and followed.
You will develop clinical knowledge of surgical procedures for all team members through self-study, observation of surgical procedures, and interaction with subject matter experts.
Software Development Process
You will ensure the team has the appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to perform effectively.
You will foster a software design and development process in compliance with our quality goals and procedures.
You will monitor technology, best practice trends, and procedures in software development and drive planning and implementation of such improvements, as appropriate.
You will provide timely and thorough review and approval of design documents.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) required. Master's or PhD highly preferred.
10+ years of experience in the design & development of complex software systems, preferably in the medical device industry.
5+ years of management experience.
What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred)
Expertise in cloud, mobile, and application software development lifecycle management.
Sound knowledge of product cybersecurity, patient data privacy, medical device interconnectivity, healthcare interoperability, and EMR integration.
Experience in natural language processing, data analytics, or machine learning is a plus.
