Detailed Job Description Manage daily Student Financial Services (SFS) operations including student receivables for tuition, room and board; third party billing; processing student refunds; loan collections; and, cashiering and banking functions as well as all customer contacts. As part of the SFS management team, contribute to efforts to provide exceptional service to students, families and other service providers. Build and maintain key relationships within the office and with RIT's internal and external customers.
Manage the SFS Counseling staff whose responsibilities include collections for student receivables including tuition, room and board; processing third party billings, processing student refunds and loan collections and customer contacts. Ensure that staff maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable university policies and federal and state regulations related to all financial aid programs including, Federal Title IV Programs, NYS TAP, State VR programs, institute funded financial aid, alternative loan program, college savings and prepayment programs and other available financing options and payment plans.
Provide oversight of detailed student billings, required student account adjustments, and collections from third party organizations including international embassy sponsored students. Coordinate collection and outreach activities for current students. Ensure coordination with Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships (OFAS); provide detailed analysis and maximize financial aid disbursements and paid accounts.
Manage collection attorney, collection agency and loan servicer relationships.
Provide oversight of SFS policies and procedures intended to ensure compliance with external regulations with consideration to maintaining a strong internal control environment and maximizing timely collection of student tuition dollars.
Gather information and make recommendations to senior management to resolve and respond to student appeals. Maintain a strong working knowledge of functionality of the SFS student systems and other related student administrative systems. Ensure efficient, accurate real time processing of all student account adjustments, third party billings and deferment programs.
Coordinate with Registrar and OFAS to schedule SFS activities within the Institute calendar. Work with Admissions, University Publications and the Registrar's Office to maintain accurate publications related to tuition/fee rates and policies. Work with Orientation Office and Admissions to produce freshman and transfer student materials.

Required Minimum Qualifications
BS in Accounting, finance or related field, MS preferred.
Eight to ten years related experience including proven expertise in credit and collections.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required.
Knowledge of enterprise systems with specific knowledge of student systems preferred; a high degree of expertise with Microsoft products including Word, Excel and Access required.
Knowledge of sign language or willingness to learn required.
Must be well versed in FERPA and other applicable regulations.
Well-developed supervisory skills required.?
