A cutting edge R&D company, is looking for a laser development scientist/engineer to join our team in Irvine, CA facility. You will help develop and refine a novel ultra-fast laser system and laser-based processes. This team works closely with the U.S. Government Agencies to support their needs and requirements in innovative laser based systems. Expert knowledge in developing ultrashort pulse lasers - PhD in Laser Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, - Experience with theoretical analysis and characterization of laser cavity of various shapes, - Capable in transferring new technical concept into an engineering process, - Experience with optical system design and optical beam propagation. Familiar with simulation tools (e.g. Zemax, ANNSYS Optics, Code V), - Experiences in test equipment related to characterization of the ultrashort laser pulses, - Excellent verbal and written communication skill,
Strong knowledge of lasers and laser optics, - Experience in beam profiling, reducing and correcting beam wander/jitter specifically for laser beam propagation in turbulent medium, - Ability to perform alignment on a variety of laser systems and components in a class 4 system, - Candidate must have strong practical/hands on skills with lasers and optics with the ability to perform tests and troubleshoot problems independently; Experience with laser-material interaction is a plus - Ability to summarize and present results and conclusions clearly and effectively.
