McKesson is seeking a Vice President, Cloud Platform Engineering responsible for the hybrid cloud infrastructure and software engineering, delivery, and strategy. This role will be located in our corporate office in Irving, Texas.
Foundational to the position is serving as the primary creator and provider of methodologies, frameworks and solutions for hybrid cloud platforms and deployment of the automated infrastructure as code hybrid cloud architecture. These environments are designed to host application, database, and analytics environments. Engineering infrastructure as a service and platform as a service environment. These environments are primary enablers for the development team's automation supporting DevOps, and automated CICD, logging and KPI tracking, technology health, API & microservices enablement, and software development tool sets. As such, the role requires excellent communication and partnership skills, the need to co-create vision and strategy that enable the wider enterprise and technology organization, and the ability to instill confidence in others.
This position will develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the hybrid Cloud platforms. This executive will establish a culture of excellence in execution for the organization. He/she will define realistic targets and milestones, focus the software engineering team, establish a high level of team participation and interaction, serve as an inspiring mentor and coach, ensure that quality is a high priority at every stage, and move products into production in the desired timeframes. Key Responsibilities include:
Own all aspects of shared cloud technology platforms, frameworks, and tools.
Develop hybrid cloud platform technology strategy and roadmaps for capabilities in conjunction with enterprise groups, vendors, and other internal technology partners.
Deliver prioritized projects and programs as mutually agreed upon (time, budget, scope).
Keep abreast of technology trends and industry solutions that impact the partner businesses and McKesson technology at large.
Actively partner with and manage vendors who provide technology services and solutions.
Measure, communicate and deliver on Hybrid cloud platform stability, monitoring and production support.
Develop ecosystem scorecards, SLA's and KPI's in conjunction with the enterprise and other technology partners to evaluate success and determine areas for improvement and areas of opportunity.
Contribute to technology risk evaluation including the management of obsolescence and technology debt.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as external legal requirements.
Develop and manage budgets/resources as requested.
Work with peers and management on the development of mission, standards, services, goals, and objectives.
Recruit, coach and build high-performing teams.
Lead a team of cloud software engineers that, Design, Code, and Deliver new rapid prototypes and MVP (Minimal Viable Product) infrastructure as code cloud-based micro-services solutions.
Evaluate new technology frameworks, rapidly prototype proposed solutions, and iteratively develop scalable hybrid cloud platforms, production-ready solutions following an Agile/SCRUM based methodology.
Provide technical leadership to the development team. Inform and train internal development teams on the hybrid cloud platform automation and micro-services development best practices. Perform technical oversight, complete code reviews, and mentor developers.
Provide technical design, leadership, and oversight to the development team to deliver new solutions using the hybrid cloud platform, automated micro-services and cloud-based technologies and platforms.
Coordinate with technical leaders across the company to drive cloud platform, framework, and infrastructure decisions and implementations, and adoption.
Provide guidance and support for Development and DevOps to support continuous integration build and deployments, unit testing frameworks, packaged micro-services container apps, services versioning, and blue-green deployments.
Document technical design specifications, systems infrastructure topology, and production support procedures. Provide cross-training on new services to Level 1 support team. Support and resolve production issues with delivered services.
Typically requires 15+ years of professional experience and 10+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).
Strong knowledge and understanding of multiple cloud deployments IaaS and PaaS. Google cloud, AZURE, and AWS.
Strong understanding of data platforms, Snowflake, Big Query, Hana, etc.
Demonstrated successful delivery of infrastructure as code environments across multi hybrid cloud.
Leading engineering teams building cloud-based technologies (Java, REST, Java Spring (Boot), Cloud Foundry (Pivotal preferred), GKE
Excellent understanding of current methodologies in high performance operations and large-scale implementations
Experience and leading engineering teams responsible for Relational Databases, SQL, and Stored Procedures. Understanding of NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
Experience and leading engineering teams responsible for verity of operating systems. windows, Linux and Unix-based including troubleshooting utilities
Strong Understanding of modern distributed security development principles and practices
Experience leading engineering teams responsible for Web services, including RESTful services exposing both JSON and XML, other
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Healthcare and/or Supply Chain industry experience
Experience with Atlassian, GIT, Maven, and Gradle
Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM software development
Must have a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience managing and building effective, high-performing IT teams and leadership.
Proven experience leading engineering teams, building and supporting, CICD automated pipelines with on-prem, cloud and hybrid infrastructures in an agile, DevOps context.
Ability to form and lead centers of excellence that enable and partner with other technology and business teams.
Strong written and oral communications skills with demonstrated evidence of constructive interpersonal interactions with both individual contributors and senior executives inside and outside of technology.
Experience leading technology transformation initiatives.
4-year degree in MIS/Science/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
