The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI, www.ini.usc.edu) are world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. We are currently seeking a MIS Manager to join our institute. This position is primarily responsible for managing the IT and web teams, and works closely with the department administrator and director. This position is also responsible for management, mentorship, and career development of highly-skilled systems engineers and web developers. The ideal candidate understands technical terminology and can translate that for the lay person.Â S/He will also maintain relationships with vendors, campus contacts, faculty and staff. This position develops internal tools to aid not only the operations team, but also the developers in safely and sustainably managing their dev-to-prod pipelines.
The ideal candidate will have ALL of the following:
strong familiarity with software development lifecycle
familiarity with modern web development technologies
familiarity with the devops process
strong project management skills
excellent communication skills Â
a can-do attitude and ability to work with and support users across the technical ability spectrum from novice administrative staff to faculty to senior coders
Candidates with these additional qualifications are highly preferred:
BS in Computer Science or related is preferred
Some experience with Golang, relational databases, and/or basic HTML
Familiarity with version control mechanisms such as git
Knowledge of software engineering
Ability to work independently but interact well with others in a team environment, including liaising with counterparts in database integration efforts
Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact, communicate, and work as a team member with academic, research, administrative and technical staff
Ability to communicate business and technical information clearly, persuasively and effectively, both orally and in writing
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 5 years, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experienceMinimum Field of Expertise: Directly relevant supervisory-level experience in MIS field to provide technical expertise.
