WRITER , Office of the Vice President for Communication-MIT News Office , to serve as a key contributor to MIT's dynamic daily news site, generating high-quality, authoritative coverage of the Institute with a focus on electrical engineering and computer science (EECS). This beat includes cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence, cryptography, robotics, quantum computing, and more. Responsibilities include reporting and writing about MIT research, innovation, and teaching through a mix of spot news and coverage of peer-reviewed research, profiles, trend stories, and/or other features; covering several beats within MIT, including other departments in addition to EECS as needed; exercising sharp news judgment and generating at least two story ideas per week that map to institutional priorities; interviewing students, faculty, and staff for news articles; covering speeches and events, occasionally at night or on weekends; writing at least two news stories a week for the MIT News website; collaborating with media relations team to adapt news stories for distribution to news media; proposing and helping coordinate visual/multimedia elements to accompany articles; and liaising with subjects of articles and other stakeholders to make sure they approve of content prior to publication.
