| Job Description The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a global product development test organization, consisting of individual contributors and managerial direct reports. In addition to managing departmental staff and budget, this person is also responsible for reviewing and enhancing global discipline processes, as well as acting as project sponsor for select NPI projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Departmental Manager responsibilities:
- Prepare department budgets and develop organizational strategy & objectives
- Provide day-day prioritization and technical guidance to direct reports
- Assess staff performance on an ongoing basis & perform quarterly performance reviews
- Provide career development for engineer and managerial staff members
- Establish clear expectations, hold staff accountable, and incentivize proactive innovation and issue resolution to deliver products on time and within budget
- Built strong team with culture of ownership and continuous improvement
- Discipline Manager responsibilities:
- Establish global discipline objectives
- Identify and implement tools & processes to enhance organizational efficiency & ensure RAPL compliance
- Project Sponsor responsibilities:
- Establish annual project objectives and define resource requirements for assigned projects
- Assist applicable project teams in developing budgets, schedules, and technology implementation plans
- Provide an escalation point for assigned teams to assist with technical, resource, & financial issues
- Assist the team in identifying and clearing project roadblocks
- Additional responsibilities:
- Provide updates to Sr Management on applicable departmental, project, or customer issues
- Collaborate with PMO, Marketing, and peer discipline leaders to ensure efficient cross-BU collaboration
- Manage assigned partner relationships
- Network with ITD and RA Test organization leadership
- Participate in applicable councils and technical groups deemed necessary by Director of Engineering
- Perform global travel on as needed basis
- Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality and environmental regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, ISO l4000, etc.) as well as Rockwell/Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIRED - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related Engineering degree. Post-graduate work in an applicable technical or managerial field is desirable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - 5+ years of managing and leading product design or test teams
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, & firmware disciplines & processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage or lead a team through an entire project lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to partner across discipline and organizational boundaries to develop and execute project plans
- Knowledge of Hardware and Firmware test automation tools & processes
- Knowledge of Industrial Components, industrial communication protocols, motor control & protection, energy metering, & Logix controllers
- Knowledge of applicable Industrial Component IEC & UL standards and related test sequences & requirements
