The mission of the Center for Computation and Visualization (CCV, ccv.brown.edu) is to provide the scientific and technical computing expertise required to advance computational research and support Brownâ™s academic mission. CCV is looking for a Full Stack Engineer (FSE) eager to help us on our mission.The FSE will work together with software engineers and data scientists in our team to build, improve and deploy modern web applications and relevant software that support Brown researchers as well as CCVâ™s internal websites and applications.Â The FSE is expected to be a motivated, agile learner who keeps up-to-date with emerging technologies across a wide range of fields such asÂ web/mobile development and deployment, data management, analysis, and visualization. The applicant is expected to be or quickly become comfortable with best practices in software engineering with a strong emphasis on reproducibility; this includes version control, testing, continuous integration, containerized applications and multiple programming languages.Â If applying as a Senior Full Stack Engineer, the successful candidate is expected to be comfortable leading projects, and being the technical point of contact with faculty. All members of CCV are encouraged to take ownership of projects, mentoring of interns, and lead outreach activities to promote CCV.

This is a three year fixed-term staff position, with the possibility of extension contingent upon available funding.
The successful candidate, as a minimum, should have the following background:Â
For level 10E: Bachelor's degree with strong computational emphasis (equivalent experience may be an acceptable substitute) plus 1-2 years of experience.
For level 11E: Masterâ™s degree with strong computational emphasis (equivalent experience may be an acceptable substitute) plus 3-5 years of experience.
Knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems and shell scripting
High professional standards with the ability to manage competing requirements in a diverse user population
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with strong analytical ability
Versatile, enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills
Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
Candidates with some or all of the following qualifications are highly preferred:
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerization
Experience with cloud computing software and services
Experience with scientific visualization in one or more science domains
Experience with (or interest in learning) mobile application development in support of research on iOS and/or Android platform
Interest in UI/UX design
The grade of the position will based on the qualifications of the chosen candidate.
