Université Laval invites applications for a tenure-track professor position jointly appointed to the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics and Optics and to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The person selected will also be appointed to the Laval-Sherbrooke Interuniversity Chair in Quantum Optics.
As a new faculty member at Université Laval, the appointed candidate will be invited to join the Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL) and Université de Sherbrooke's Institut quantique (IQ). Several research themes are related to this position in quantum photonics, including but not limited to:
Quantum optical communications
Quantum photonic materials
Quantum photonic components, devices and systems
Integrated photonic circuits for quantum optics

At the job starting date, the chosen candidate will be expected to hold a PhD in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in one of the targeted areas, good oral and written communication skills, and a capacity for collaboration.

About Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (Univ. Laval)
Based at Université Laval, in Quebec City Canada, the Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL) is renowned for its research excellence, state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive scientific program that have positioned it among the best centers in the world for optics and photonics training and research. The COPL is housed in a 10,000 m2 building solely dedicated to research in optics and photonics . The Center is equipped with fiber-optic fabrication and characterization facilities, thin film deposition systems, femtosecond lasers and sophisticated optical test and measurement instruments. Twenty research teams and over 150 graduate students make up its composition, along with a dozen research associates and as many experienced technicians.
